15th May, 2008 - HSBC Attard launches new PV tracking system:
.

HSBC Bank has taken the environmental initiative and commissioned Solar Solutions Ltd to design, configure and install a 2kWp PV system on 2 tracking systems. 'The tracking should allow for a higher yield, which will be measured in close collaboration with the University of Malta', explained Karl Azzopardi, Sales Director for Solar Solutions Ltd.' The configuration for this particular system was not as straightforward as other fixed systems and we therefore had to allow for the increased yield all year round. This meant that we had to program the inverter to be able to handle the correct output in a safe and reliable way in all types of weather conditions and also throughout the whole year'.

18th March, 2008 - New website and Logo Launched:
Solar Solutions have recently completed their rebranding exercise supported by a new website. ‘The new website has allowed us to display product and service lines that Solar Solutions are installing on the Maltese Islands’ explained Karl Azzopardi, Sales Director. ‘We have also increased the level of customer support through information on financing and obtaining grants on their investments.

Another interesting feature is the provision of live data from photovoltaic systems installed by Solar Solutions, this should be of interest to customers who are considering an investment in photovoltaic and also researchers specializing or pursuing studies on this interesting subject’.

15th March, 2008 - Environmental Initiative at the Ministry for Competitiveness and Communications
.

The Ministry for Competitiveness and Communications has installed 2 photovoltaic systems (PV) - a 3.2kWp photovoltaic system at the Ministry’s premises and a 3.2kWp at the Consumer and Competition Division.

The PV systems are similar in design and consist of 32 x 200 watts of Kyocera Solar Photovoltaic panels and two SMA Sunny Boy DC to AC inverters.

28th January 2008 - BOV chooses renewable energy by Solar Solutions:
A 2.2kWp photovoltaic system has been installed at the Marsascala BOV branch. The system was designed and installed by Solar Solutions and a data monitoring system was also installed. ‘The data collection system will allow the Bank to understand photovoltaic better and this will have a bearing on any future decisions on renewable energy’ remarked Karl Azzopardi, Sales Director for Solar Solutions Ltd. ‘This is how responsible organizations are responding to their Corporate Social Responsibility, this particular PV system will avoid the emissions of over 3000kgs yearly and will therefore aid the Bank in reducing its carbon footprint’.

The system is powered using Kyocera 200 watt panels and grid connected through an SMA Sunny Boy Transformerless inverter. Kyocera Solar is one of the leading solar panel manufacturers in the world, with over 35 years of experience. SMA are the leading European inverter manufacturer and supply the highest efficiency inverters on the market.

October, 2007 - 12,000 KW of Solar Energy at St. Benedict College
The Ministry of education has initiated an ambitious environmental protection program so that in time the schools in Malta would be 'zero Carbon Dioxide' contributors. This means that the energy usage in the schools would include the integration of electrical generation by means of renewable sources, namely solar power and wind power in such a quantity that the total consumption of electricity absorbed from the Enemalta national grid, would be balanced out by the production of 'clean' electricity by means of solar and wind systems. With such systems state schools will not only be producing clean energy and reducing dependency on fossil fuels but will also be educating our children on how best to use our natural resources. Education Minister Louis Galea said this when visiting St. Benedict's College in Kirkop where a new solar power system has been installed and which is expected to produce over 12,000Kw Hrs annually.
